I wanted to make a slide show of that set of pictures for this website but while doing some research to find out who the Artist was I found where he has been painting this same Rock for several years. He changes the scenes every year for Memorial Day. He began his project in 1999 because he wanted to remind people to show respect for our country. The Freedom Rock is painted mainly with military and history scenes and they are all beautiful. Please go to The Original Web Site of The Freedom Rock to Learn more on the History of this Freedom Rock. They show all the years of pictures and give directions to the Freedom Rock. The Artist is a College Student, Ray *Bubba* Sorensen II. When he was 19, he saw 'Saving Private Ryan' and he felt that patriotism was at an all time low and this motivated him to paint the rock. Check out Bubba's Artwork to see more of his work and art. I hope to make a trip to view this Freedom Rock in person as soon as I can. I have decided to show several views of all the years he has painted this rock which has become known as The Freedom Rock. My copies of the pictures have been cut down and may not be as clear as the ones you can find at either of the above links. So highly I recommend you visit those websites to view the way they show the pictures. To view the slideshow you can just watch and it will run automatically or you can stop it and click next to view the pictures at your own pace. I hope everyone is pleasantly surprised---like I was to learn there are several variations painted on this rock.
